The garden was in the ground and doing quite well in May. Morgan and Carson would do a little bit of work on it every day. The cherries were ripe and we were enjoying lots of cobblers, pies and smoothies.

We took a camping trip with the Pistoles to Calaveras County to see the frog-jumping contest (I’m not kidding.) Hundreds of people would enter their frog in this contest which seemed more cruel than fun. Someone would drop the frog on this mat then slam their hands down next to the frog in an attempt to scare it into the winner’s circle. This was quite the experience but I think it’s something we only need to see once.

We passed the final inspection on the house without a hitch and by the end of the month we had moved most of our stuff from Nonnie and Pop’s. We were starting to feel settled.
